Hi Guys,
I made my own wiki and had a play around on the website. I found making a wiki was very time consuming as It took me half an hour to find how to edit my page. I find wikis very confusing and not user friendly for someone like me who dosnt have extensive computer knowledge and skills. What did everyone else think? Did you have a different experience than I did?
I think if I could navigate my way around my wiki, and do more research on what you can do with a wiki, I would probably use it to both my learners and my own advantage. Again, I feel as if I would have to keep a close look on the information and advertisments that come up, but if I do this and create an engaging and good use for a wiki I would use it.
Has anyone ever seen a wiki at use? If so, what can the students do with wikis in the classroom? I am eager to find out!
Blog soon!
Hi Renee,
ReplyDeleteI thought that a WIKI could be a great tool for collaborative tasks. As each group member finds new information they could upload it to their WIKI for other group members to see. Also I thought it would be a good tool for class excursions or camps. The class could create a WIKI and make a list of items they need to bring. As each student thinks of something new they could add it to the list. What do you think of these ideas?
Wikis are great, the more I play around with mine, the more ideas I have on how to incorporate them into classroom practice. Your ideas sound great! A wiki could be used in most KLA’s and students would most defiantly find this engaging and exciting to work with a wiki. I think it would be best used in groups or partners for the younger students and as an individual task for years 5/6/7. I can’t wait to show my mentor teacher a wiki and how to use them!
ReplyDeleteHey Renee
ReplyDeleteI found the set up of my Wiki quite easy, although am yet to edit someone elses. That might be when it gets tricky. I think that Wikis could be used to share information with others, and as a learning manager, collaborate and share ideas with colleagues. I also think them to be versatile in their use, although I do not find them useful for the early years as they are a little complicated.
Also, how did you get a picture of your Wiki? I am having trouble adding an image of my Wiki to my blog post.
ReplyDeleteThanks
